S.R.O. 97 (KE)/2000:
The Federal Government is pleased to constitute a "Committee
for Monitoring Drugs Sector" (CMDS), with the following composition:--
i. Minister for Health. (Chairman)
ii. One member each of the level of a senior professor or equivalent
representing following medical specialties:--
(a) General Medicine.
(b) General Surgery.
(c) Pharmacology.
iii. One representative from each province (Ex-office) not below
the rank of Provincial Secretary.
iv. One representative from NGOs dealing in the relevant field;
v. Two independent experts from public having at least twenty five
years experience in the fields of pharmaceuticals.
vi. The Committee can invite observes to attend the proceedings.
2. The Committee shall have following advisory functions:--
i. Overall feedback of policies in Drug Sector.
ii. Reporting performance of Drug machinery at field level i.e.
Federal Drug Inspectors, and Drug Testing.
iii. To take note of disposal of cases by Drugs Courts.
iv. Inputs regarding drug pricing policy evaluation.
v. Feedback on Quality Control in Drug Sector.
vi. Public complaints of serious nature.
vii. Proposals for improvements.
3. Terms and conditions for working of the Committee are as under:--
(i) The tenure of the Committee members shall be for two years,
thereafter members may be eligible for reappointment.
(ii) The Committee may devise its own working procedures.
(iii) The Committee may, if required, appoint specialist Committees
or working groups for detailed evaluation of specific issues.
